Reverend Allan Lane
PASTOR
Reverend Allan Lane was born and raised in Toronto. After graduating with his B.A. in Linguistics and German from the University of Toronto, Allan went to Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. He graduated with his M.Div. in 1989. Allan was working on a Ph.D. in Church History when a car accident and a concussion derailed his studies just as he was starting to write his dissertation. He returned to Toronto, where he was ordained in 1998. Allan pastored an integrated church in Toronto for over eight years.
He met his wife, Kate, on eHarmony.com, where he had checked the box that said he ‘would move for love’, not expecting to have to. But move he did in 2006 to be with Kate, who was finishing her doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. He pastored a church in Batavia, OH, near Cincinnati, for ten years. When Kate accepted a job as Professor of Math Education at Baldwin Wallace University in 2016 to be closer to her family in New London, OH, Allan remembered the checked box, and wisely decided to move up to Cleveland with her.
Allan became the interim minister at a joint UCC/PCUSA church, Christ United, in Berea. After that he became the interim at Brecksville UCC, and now has the great pleasure of serving at Richfield UCC where he has been since February 2022. Reverend Lane was officially installed as RUCC's settled pastor in January 2024.
